Please Note - The Take Down has been pushed back on the afternoon of Sunday, April 24 until the Open House is over. The Hot Shops Open House is very well attended and we need to take advantage of this. Daylight Savings Time will be in effect so we should have no trouble with it being dark. If you can't wait that late you can come get your piece earlier. I'll be there starting at 4:00. If you need to get it sooner please contact me.
All art to be hung must have a wire hanger –no exceptions.

All ESL Art Bridge classes are held on the 2nd Wed of the month (except this month) from September thru May at Augustana Lutheran Church 3647 Lafayette, Omaha NE. from 9-11 am.
We give our students an experience with different materials each month. They learn colors, shapes and simple designs. Despite the language barrier, they quickly get involved in the creative process. We challenge them and they “get it”! That’s our reward.
Wednesday March 16: Watercolor Flower lesson with Lourdes O’Leary
Check out Duane Pieper’s new gallery, Biblical Touchstones Gallery located in the Bell Place Shoppes at 134 N. Washington Street, Suite 100, in the downtown historical section of Papillion. This location is also called 84th Street if you are coming from Omaha. I am usually in my Gallery on Thursday and Friday afternoons and on Saturday's between 11:00-4:00. See the exhibit “Totems” at the Hot Shops, 1301 Nicholas. Show runs March 4 thru 27, 2016. Reception is Friday March 4, 6-9 pm. Twenty five artists are participating including many Omaha Artists, Inc. members.
Omaha Artists, Inc. general meeting was held on February 24, 2016 at Westside Community Center. Called to order by President, Katrina Swanson. Introduction of new member, Linda Jones, and guest, Liz Santoro. Announced Betsy Conway winner of free February luncheon.

ANAC: Jo Anne Nielsen announced that dues payable today for upcoming ANAC member year. Conference June 8-11,2016 in McCook, NE.
Art Shows: Sharon Clawson advises the Winter Show Take down is this Sunday at Jewish Community Center 2-4 pm. Sold 5 pieces from the shown and very good attendance at the reception. The Spring Show registration is Tuesday March 29, 11-1pm at the Hot Shops. Theme is “Once Upon a Time– Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales”. Reception is Sunday April 3, 2-4 pm. Need suggestions for exhibit space for fall.
Community Art Bridge: Per Carol Coppi the February class was compass design with attendance of 49 students. March will be March 16, Spring Flowers, a watercolor course by Lordes O’Leary.

Programs: Todays program is Lori Elliott Bartels a cold wax artist at the Hot Shops and Artists Co-operative Gallery. March program and meeting will be at the Joslyn Art Museum, March 23, 2016. Board Meeting 10:00, 11:30-12:15 lunch at Joslyn Café, 12:30 general meeting in the Abbott Lecture Hall. Tour fee of $5.00 for non members, free with Joslyn membership for exhibit “Go West”. Our docents are club members, Cheri Oelke and Lavonne Tripp. Check in at the Atrium counter, pay your tour fee. We will have reserved tables in the Café.
Membership: Per Susan Stevens we have 4 new members for a total of 132.

We’re off to a great start in 2016. We had over 30 people for the January luncheon and Debra Groesser was a great presenter. In February, Dottie Seymour will be teaching mask making at the Funshop. Painter and printmaker Lori Elliott-Bartle will be the luncheon presenter.

Our ESL students are from warm climates like Burma, Sudan and Somalia and are challenged by snow. They loved Josie’s January lesson, “Cardinals in Snow”. We try to convey positive images about winter in Omaha! Next month Wednesday February 10 is Compass Design by Carol Coppi.
