Spring Art Show at Hot Shops

Location: Hot Shops, 1301 Gallery, 1301 Nicholas Street, Omaha NE

Dates of Show: April 2 thru April 25, 2015

Theme: “ April Showers Bring….”

Entry fee: You may enter up to  3 pieces of art for $15.00 – no commission is taken by Hot Shops.

Guidelines and Rules: Please follow the art show guidelines in your Omaha Artists, Inc. roster.

You cannot show any art that has been:

• entered in one of our previous shows
• completed longer than 2 years ago.

Registration: Wednesday, April 1, 5-8 pm

Reception: Sunday, April 12, 2-4 pm

Take Down: Sunday, April 26, 1-3 pm 

Size restrictions for Spring Show: Measurements are the outside frame dimensions. 

• Smallest – 3 pieces no larger than 11x14, or 25 inches total. Add length and width, (11 + 14 = 25).
• Medium – 2 pieces 24 x 30 or smaller (24 + 30 = 54 inches total).
• Largest – 1 piece when larger than 24 x 30. But no larger than 40 x 40= 80 inches total.

“Compass Art” is a lesson designed by Pat Lontor. It gives students the use of rulers, triangles and protractors to create designs. The ESL men students love this one!!

Board meeting minutes February 25, 2015 / 12:00 at Westside Community Conference Center. Called to order by President Katrina Swanson. 

Treasurer’s Report: Jo Anne Nielsen reported $6966.11. 

ANAC: Jo Anne Nielsen reports that dues for coming year and ANAC show in June are due today. Those who have not paid the additional $2.00 please contact Jo Anne. Registration and Selection show will be during the registration for the Spring Show at the Hot Shops. April 11th is the deadline for application and artwork. If your piece is in the Spring Show, it will be taken down by the committee and reserved in a separate location for the ANAC show. See newsletter for more details.

Art Shows: Take down for the JCC show is Sunday March 1, 1-3 pm. Two pieces were sold. See the Newsletter. Registration for the Spring Show is Wednesday April 1 at the Hot Shops from 5-8 pm. Theme: “April Showers Bring …” (interpret as you see fit). Size restrictions apply. Reception is April 12. the Fall Show will be at Esprit Assisted Living Center from October thru November 2015. Meeting held on March 25th, 2015 12:30 pm at the Joslyn Art Museum.

Call to order and welcome new members: President Katrina Swanson

Treasurer’s Report: JoAnne Nielsen reported we have $5,877.16 in the checking account.

ANAC: Jo Anne Nielsen announced April 11th will be the selection show. Members whose work is not hung in the Spring show should bring their pieces to the Hot Shops (1301 gallery) between10:30-11:30am that day. Pieces already hanging in the Spring show will be moved to a separate area, judged and then re-hung. Members can return at 2:30pm to retrieve their pieces if they are not entered in the Spring Show.

Art Shows: Registration for the Spring show "April Showers Bring.." is Sunday, April 1st from 5-8pm at the Hot Shops. Jaime Burmeister is the judge. Reception is April 12th from 2-4pm. Take down is Sunday, April 26. Fall Show is at Esprit Assisted Living Center. It is a small image show and will run October through mid December. 8x10 image or 18" combined on two sides. The Esprit is located at 175th and Em-mett - behind Hobby Lobby.
