Bio for Judge of 2015 Fall Small Image Show

Richard Markoff grew up in Alliance, graduating from Alliance High School before attending Doane College and Chadron State College where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He taught high school art for 37 years in Rocky Ford, Colorado, McCook and at Omaha Northwest. Markoff was a founding member of the Gallery 13 in Omaha in 1985 and has been an active member of the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery in Omaha’s Old Market for many years serving as a board member and on the Hanging Committee and Membership Committee. Additionally he is an associate member of the Burkholder Project in Lincoln.

"I consider myself a series painter. Having taught school for 37 years, I have had to use different styles of painting in my teaching; therefore I have continued to do so through the years. I paint ten to fifteen paintings per series from surrealism to modern abstract utilizing acrylic and mixed media. I am a stern advocate of art elements and all my judging reflects that belief."
