Category: Art Show News
Published: Sat. Mar 20, 2021

The virtual show will be exhibited on our website May 1 and judged by Deb Murphy. The winners will be announced online May 8 at 2:00 via a Zoom meeting. Information on how to join the meeting will be sent to all the members via email. Prize money and appropriate ribbons will be mailed to the winners.

Theme: Shadows

Create anything that has an actual shadow, alludes to a shadow, dark figure, an inseparable follower, pervasive or dominant influence, vestigial remnant, a copy, a phantom, gloom or unhappiness, obscurity, to follow secretly, shelter, conceal, to pass gradually, or having an indistinct pattern.

Here’s how it will work:

Prior to judging, all entries will appear on the website with the entry title and number only. Once the judge has made award selections, the entries will be updated to display the artist’s name with the title, medium, size, and price. There will also be a link to a form for interested buyers to contact the artist. You are responsible for working out the details of the sale.

The "First Ever Virtual Show" committee would appreciate your feedback and opinions concerning the online show. I believe we all agree that a "real, in-person" show is everyone's preference. However, we are in the midst of a global pandemic. Please fill out the survey by March 15 to allow us time to make adjustments based on your feedback for the next show.

We appreciate your responses!

Are You Lucky?

Have you ever known some people who just seem to always“ luck out?” Lady Luck seems to just smile down on them a little brighter than on others. How does this happen?

Well, I’ve been pondering this question for a while now, and I don’t think it has anything to do with being Irish...although some of my best friends are Irish! Interestingly enough, research shows there are a few common denominators within this “group of lucky ducks.”

One condition shared was the sociability factor. “Lucky” people tend to hang out with others...even via Zoom in a pandemic. A second feature was service work, meaning they helped others. This often caused the “fortunate person” to feel grateful (or lucky) for his/her life. A third factor involved using imagination to visualize stepping stones to a goal. Working hard has been documented to aid “luck.” Often the overnight successes of our society have been working hard for ten years-ha! Finally, another method for finding luck was to “try!” *

March 17th is St. Patrick’s Day and lots of talk will focus on luck . I am suggesting you all to be on the lookout for random luck coming your way. I encourage you to take part in the “Shadows” virtual show beginning May 1st. Remember, if you don’t try you can’t win and someone has to take first place! It might as well be YOU!

Create, create, create!

Sincerely,

Barbara Egr

Man viewing artwork.

The ANAC Conference in Fremont has been canceled due to Covid-19. ANAC will be conducting a virtual Conference including an Exhibition, juried competition and a virtual travel show. Award certificates and money will remain as usual.

All rules for the artwork will still apply except it should be photographed before matting and framing. All information will be available in the next newsletter and at the time of the selection show. The ANAC committee for OAI is looking to have the selection show either, April 8th , 9th or the 16th.

Winners of the selection show will be provided with all the information that is needed to proceed with entering the event. This will be the responsibility of the artists. The selection show will be in the same manner as before (at the church) with the exception of being very very COVID distancing. We all care about our fellow artists and do not want anyone to be harmed or get sick.

See March newsletter for contacting Jo Anne Nielsen, Dick Brown or Karen Lastovica.
