Sue Loyd attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, majoring in Fine Art. After college, in addition to family life, Sue was active in Midwest Photo Company, her family’s photo lab, until the lab closed. She then worked at Omaha Public Schools. At that time, she began painting with plein air artists locally. Upon retiring in 2018, she stepped up her painting, sought out artistic community, participated in juried and organizational art shows. Sue is a member of the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery, active in Omaha Artists Inc., has selected work on display at the Hoff Family Arts and Cultural Center in Council Bluffs, and is a member of Nebraska Women’s Caucus for Art. Sue is married to David Loyd, also a member of the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery in Omaha.

When I am painting or drawing, I find that I can see the world more clearly and get a thrill out of trying to capture the beauty of nature on canvas or watercolor paper. When I am given a thematic assignment, I enjoy the challenge of developing a composition that is meaningful to me, and translates to others. I work primarily in Watercolor and Acrylics. My paintings utilize line and color to convey emotion.
Each artistic endeavor is an adventure. I ask for the L-rd’s blessing and even participation, and am surprised by how each project turns out.
I hope you like what you see on my page, as much as I love what I see on the pages of my friends here at Omaha Artists, Inc.
