Welcome New Members
Contact information for our newest member can be found in the June newsletter or the membership roster.
We have two winners for the Genie Schaffer Memorial Scholarship. A new member, Barbara Egr will be going to a workshop on sketchbook journaling at the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. Long time member, Dorothy Tuma will be attending an art camp with Judy Coates Perez at Smiling Turtle Art Spot. She’ll be studying new techniques on fabric, including mixed media, embossing and using acrylic inks. I’m really excited for both of them.
Included in the months newsletter is an application for the 2016/2017 membership. Please fill out the form online or send it in to the Membership Chair, Susan Stevens. It’s important that we get the membership form. We use it for the roster each year. Thank you, Katrina
Our next general meeting and program is May 25. The presenter will be Tyler (Ty) Curnes.
Reservations are due Wednesday, May 20.
Tyler resides in Elkhorn, Nebraska, a small town near Omaha. He is an up -and-coming young artistic craftsman with a vision for creating art through the medium of glass. He has taken numerous glass classes from local artisans and began his journey after attending glass classes at the Hot Shops Art Center where he fell in love with the science of glass and metal interaction. He has ventured across the country to take more specific classes from world renowned artists such as Patty Gray and Anne Nye. He has recently traveled to the BULLSEYE Resource Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico, for specialty training in creating his own lost wax castings. These castings can be used to mold individual pieces of art for his clients. He strives to create unique pieces and one-of-a-kind glass art.
