Our award winning guest instructor, Jack Hetterich, will be giving raffling off one of his art paintings. All present will have an opportunity to win. How very generous of him. See you there, you might be the lucky winner.
How to paint rocks by pastel artist Jack Hetterich. He will do a short demo and hand outs will be available. He will cover form, color, shape, types, etc. Jack will be working on Wallis paper but you can use Canson paper (paper should be mounted). Please bring white, gray and earth tone pastels.
NOTE: If you are not a pastel artist, Jack says to bring your medium of choice.
Joy Long's daughter, Carolyn White, with Mary Ann Grace, the first recipient of the Joy Long Art Award.
Joy Long was a member of Omaha Artists Inc. for many, many years and was a talented artist winning awards in various media, including oil and watercolor. But her main focus in recent years was pastel. Her wonderful effects with focus on “light and atmosphere” made her artwork stand out. Joy won Best Water-color at our Lauritzen Garden art show just last spring. She passed away this past summer, and her bright and cheery personality will be missed. Joy’s family has been gracious enough to make an ongoing award in Joy’s name. They would like it to be awarded to an artist for “excellence in expressing light and atmosphere in the artist’s chosen medium”. This is a $50.00 cash prize and the first one will be awarded at the “Ancestral Connections” fall art show reception at the Hot Shops, November 9 from 2-4 pm. We are very thankful to Roy Long and his family for this ongoing memorial.
